We started the night by investing our, and the worlds, newest member of the Scouting family.

Then jumped right in with a game of Head, Shoulders, Knew CUP! Everyone paired off, plus a group of 3, while a leader called out body parts they needed to touch. As soon as the word ‘cup’ was called out they had to try and grab a paper cup positioned between them, first to grab was the winner and moved on clockwise to the next pairing.

We then had a refresher on the ScoutCraft badge elements on first aid and the Australian Flag

Followed by playing another Scout favourite Weeds:

We then sat to have our final discussion of the year, where we talked about the dangers of swimming in various locations and discussed how to prevent and treat Sunburn, Skin cancer, stings, leechers, blue ringed octopus and stone fish. We specifically covered the uses of heat, cold, pressure and vinegar for different types of stings and had a go at creating a pressure bandage wrap as used for snake bites, blue ringed octopus and funnel web spiders. If you want to refresh your memory the information sheets are available.

We also had a look at treating wounds to prevent infection, the principles of foot care and what things could cause headaches and fevers.

Lastly there were several badges and awards to give out. Well done to the two Scout who received their Pioneer badges and cord, and everyone who completed the Water Safety Pioneer and Explorer levels.

Next week its messy week… no uniforms!
