All About Scouts
Our aims are to engage and inspire young Austrlians to develop confidence, resilience and leadership.
Why Become A Scout?
Scouting is the biggest and most successful youth organisation in Australia. Approximately 15,000 boys, girls and adults in Queensland from various cultural or religious backgrounds and with varying abilities, participate in all aspects of Scouting.
Scouting is for everyone, at Scouts you can learn:
Self-Confidence | To Keep It Fun |
To Accept Challenges | Planning & To Be Prepared |
Environmental Issues | Independence |
Initiative & Problem Solving | To Be Risk Takers |
To Achieve Badges & Awards | The Importance of Community Involvement |
Leadership | Teamwork |
Scouts are in every part of our community
The Scouts Movement is made up of sections where you will be grouped with young people of a similar age. Currently Paradise Point Scouts offers the following groups:
Joey Scouts Age 6-7
Cub Scouts Age 8-10
Scouts Age 11-14
Whilst we do not currently have a Venture Scouts (age 15-17) group if you are interested please do still get in contact.
Youth Program For 2020 Onwards
Scouting never stands still, and our programs and activities are always changing to meet modern demands and requirements. To that end back in 2020 we have started to run the New Youth Program
Below you’ll find a summary of some of the areas covered in this program, however greater detail is available on the Scouts Queensland website.
Adventure. Your Way.
The Outdoor Adventure Skills (OAS) are a new and exciting way of packaging the many Adventurous Activities that we build into our Youth Program. They encourage more of the outdoor experiences we already know and love, but they also extend into areas that might be new for your Unit – meaning more adventure, and fun more often.
The OAS allow our Scouts – no matter their age – to pursue outdoor adventures that they are passionate about, and challenge themselves in new and exciting ways.
Special Interest Areas
Special Interest Areas are six broad skill areas that you may choose to explore. Special Interest Areas are tailored to an individuals’ own interests, and require you to set your own goals for the area you are pursuing or looking to complete a project in. The challenges are set by you using Plan>Do>Review>, all within a set time frame.
The Special Interest Areas (SIAs) are:
- Adventure & Sport
- Arts & Literature
- Creating a Better World
- Environment
- Growth & Development
- Innovation & STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)
The Special Interest Areas allow our Youth Members to develop and lead activities that they are passionate about – all within Scouting!
