We had a combined night with Cub Scouts and Scouts this week down at the Runaway Bay Sports Super Centre Swimming Pool. No photos were taken during the event as we were all too busy looking out for safety and running the program.
It was a great night and everybody who participated achieved their goals, in several cases far exceeding their and our expectations. In particular we must congratulate the 3 youngest Cub Scouts whom all struggled at one or more tasks but never gave up and had second attempts with success. Trying your hardest and giving it a go is what its all about, and we are genuinely amazed at the determination we got to see last night. Also well done to the other Cub Scouts for the encouragement you gave to your peers, as we discussed in the water rescue section of the program a little encouragement can go a long way,
The Scouts too got through all their activities, the tow rescues perhaps being the hardest part in particular for those not more familiar with sidestroke.
For both the Cub Scouts and Scouts there are a couple of areas left to cover, ones that do not involve the pool. For the Cub Scouts we will be doing those next week in the hall, and the Scouts will be completing yours in the nearest future.
Lastly thanks to the parent helpers, it would truly have been impossible to run the night without you.
