Our first night back and we started with a balloon tower challenge, the Scouts had 15 balloons each and a roll of sticky tape. Their task to build the tallest free standing tower in 5 minutes. The final result was very close, within 1cm, though unfortunately the urge to pop was too intense so no photos of the final towers were taken!
We then moved on to completing the camp menus from last term, there was certainly progress made however we are not quite there yet. I am not too sure how many Scouts would enjoy a bread sandwich, that is just bread and nothing else… We will discuss these again before too long no doubt.
Once we had gone over the menus the group split up in to Pioneer and Explorers to discuss their hikes, the Pioneer hike will be taking place this term and the Scouts suggested a couple of routes we could take. Explorer level hike will take a lot longer to organise, but it’s really up to the Scouts themselves to get the ball rolling on that one now.
The Scouts then got to pick their own game, and as usual ‘fly’ was the choice, there was some pretty impressive jumping from the patrol leader and a very clear winner
We rounded off the night with a discussion about what everyone would like to do this term, in particular the last night. Remember Scouts is all about what you make of it, if you have ideas and suggestions of activities bring them up and we can discuss their feasibility.
