As is customary for the Ekka week cold westerly winds were the order of the day as 5 members of our patrol met up at Helensvale Station at 9:10am on Sunday 11th August 2019. This was the day they had been planning over the last few months, a trip up to Brisbane on the train to visit an escape room and see the sights.

Their first stop was at the Eternal Flame in Anzac Square:

From there it was a short walk down the street to Escape Manor Brisbane, where they had books the Death Row room. One of the patrol had contacted Escape Room Brisbane back in June to enquire if they would offer them a discount, very kindly they offered the patrol 20% off for which everyone was grateful.

From what we hear everyone really enjoyed this event, so a great choice that you all made!

By now it was almost 1pm so it was time to walk down the road to the Botanic Gardens, the originally planned walk along the river had to be changed as that path was closed for renovations. This of course was no problem for a group of intrepid Scouts, they simply took simply took a different route through the gardens and on to the QUT Cube, though not before stopping to eat their packed lunches of course.

The visit to QUT Cube was a first for a number of the Patrol, this is a free interactive activity that is open most days of the year until 4pm.

From there it was just a short walk to the nearest river ferry, where they caught a boat up through the city and under the Story Bridge, before getting off and taking a return trip down to South Bank.

Back at Southbank and with the wind still blowing they made the decision to take a train 30 minutes earlier than originally planned, and so they headed back down to the Gold Coast. Though not before some last minute snacking to keep them going.

Well done the five of you, and also a big thank you to the parents who followed on at a distance.
