The evening started with a quick game of fly, always a favourite. Sticks are placed on the ground at different distances and the Scouts have to run and jump between the gaps, only 1 step is allowed between each gap. Once they are all through a stick is removed and the gaps get larger, if they put down 2 steps or touch a stick they are out.

It was then time for knots, again, with revision of previous round turn and two half hitches, round lashing, square lashing and diagonal lashing. We didn’t have time to cover the round and figure of eight lashing as originally planned.

With those knots practised it was time to build, one group was building a table:

whilst the other a clothes line.

One was a little more successful than the other…however there were some good knots from both teams.

It took a while to take the creations apart, and hank up all the ropes, but there was just enough time to go over the patrol activity that’s taking place this weekend. Remember don’t be late, Sunday August 11th 9:10am at Helensvale station. Full uniform, with badges, and don’t forget your shoes!!!
