As we have been doing so much badge work this term it was time for a little extra fun this week with a Gruesome Detective Challenge. However first while the game was being set up the Scouts needed to get warmed up with a little exercise!

Then it was time to begin…

Viktor Frankenstein wants to create the perfect human from dead body parts. Eight people disappear without a trace in a small village in Denmark. However, Frankenstein only needs four people for the legs, torso, arms and head. Two people are the candidates in question for each body part. Who are the four victims and which people are still alive? The Scouts must solve the riddle.

The Scouts were paired up randomly and each group had to find 16 clues hiding inside the Scout hall:

Once they had the clues they needed to read the descriptions of the 8 people and establish which two people were candidates for each of the 4 body parts.

Then they could read through the clues which would enable them to work out who was dead and who was simply missing.

Blue team got all the clues first, followed by black and then green. This time advantage followed through with Blue being first to complete the task, though at first only 75% correct. Black then offered their solution next, with 50% correct and then green who also got 75%. With the extra time they had Blue were able to go back and re-check the clues to get a full house of victims and body parts. Well done to everyone as it was quite a complex task to complete.

We then had a little time to discuss the last camp, what they learnt from it and what perhaps they would change next time. Along with a short discussion on the patrol activity, the planning of this will be covered in depth next week when we would like to see planning stage completed.

Lastly we had a few badges to give out as 4 Scouts had completed Pioneer level Emergencies:

Apologies to the first Scout up as I didn’t have the camera ready in time! Remember these badges should be sewn on before next Tuesday.
