At last we are back in our usual hall, so the first jobs tonight were moving everything back in to the storage cupboards and having a bit of a tidy up.
Everything was going well until a collection of safety pamphlets was moved, the plastic bags they were stored in had perished and the pile turned in to a million tiny pieces that covered everything nearby, this took a long time to clean up.
While this was in progress a couple of our Pioneer Scouts undertook some tasks they missed out on earlier in the term, they had to look through the hall and find any safety issues, and check the safety equipment was all in place.
Well done for finding the 4 razor blades left laying about, and disposing of them carefully, those should certainly not have been left behind by the builders! Also whats this:
The sign says their is a fire extinguisher and fire blanket on this wall, well we can see the extinguisher on the wall beside it so we can let that one go, but where is the blanket?
There it is, in a place where you can’t even see it if the door is open! As we don’t own the hall we can’t fix this, but we can let the council know.
We had planned on having a couple of games, and a longer talk about future activities, but the tidying up took far longer than expected. However we did get to cover a few issues, and one Scout presented their ideas for a Patrol activity:
Next week everyone should bring:
- Reflections – written down!
- Patrol Activity ideas – remember not too expensive!
- 1-2 badges you want to work on
- an explanation about uses of methane gas
The Pioneers were also all given a worksheet, this is one of the last parts of your Citizenship badge, it needs to be completed before you can get the badge. The two Scouts who missed a few weeks have also got another task to complete to bring you level with everyone else, a copy of this was sent home with you.
Thanks for the hard work put in this week, it may not have been the most fun but we appreciate the help given in getting our hall back to normal.
