We started the night with the same game the Scouts had played on Tuesday, though this time an 8×7 grid was setup on the floor. The two sixes took it in turns to run down the hall and place their teams marker on the grid, with the aim of getting 4 in a row. The winner of the first round had to get 5 in a row during the second round, and in the 3rd round everyone had to get 5 in a row.

We then jumped in to our first activity, one of our Scouts and parent helper showed the cubs how to spell and speak 4 words in Russian:

Hello = Привет (Privet)
Bye = до свидания (do svidaniya)
Thanks = Спасибо (Spasibo)
Please = пожалуйста (pozhaluysta)

Extra tricky when the alphabet is not even the same! These words were printed out on to cards:

Which were placed at the other end of the hall. The Cub Scouts took it in turn to run down and collect the cards 1 at a time, then once they had all the cards the race was on to put them in to order. Tricky at first, but they soon worked out that there were some patterns and similarities to the letters and both teams solved it at about the same time.

The last programmed game of the night was Wink Murder, a Cub Scout favourite as they get to act out elaborate deaths when the murderer winks at them.

With a few minutes left we ran the first game again, this time they needed to get 5 in a row and then 6 in a row, the latter proved to be quite a challenging game but a winner emerged in the end!

A fun game indeed, and one I am sure we will be playing again in the future.
