Anzac Day, 25 April, is one of Australia’s most important national occasions. It marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War.

ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. The soldiers in those forces quickly became known as Anzacs, and the pride they took in that name endures to this day.

This year we were blessed with glorious weather for the Anzac service. We met at 8:45am near the sport centre at Runaway Bay:

At 9:30am the parade started, with a number of Cadets, veterans, schools and different Scout and Guide groups taking part amongst others. Here are the Paradise Point Scouts and Cubs:

Towards the end of the service 2 of our Cubs and 1 Scout offered a wreath at the base of the memorial:

Our thanks to everyone who attended with us, or made it to one of the hundreds of other services around the world on this day. Plus many thanks to the Runaway Bay RSL Sub Branch and all the other volunteers who helped out on the day.
