A little bit of house keeping this week, but we managed to mix in a couple of silly games to keep everything fun.
We started the night we a talk about a new parade, not a major change over the old one but bringing it back to the recent standards set out by Scouts Australia, biggest change for us being the horseshoe shape was replaced with a circle and Akela is at the other end of the hall. It only took a couple of minutes before everybody worked it all out.
Then time to warm everybody up, not that it was even remotely chilly! A quick game of Aussie flag.
The Cub Scouts were to run around the room and when a word was called out they had to group up in to a specified number, if you did not make it in to a group in time you were out!
- Federation Star = 7 in group
- Southern Cross = 5 in group
- Aussie flag = 3 in group
- State flag = 2 in group
We then had a talk about the Australian national flag, the various elements that it consists of and how to look after it. There is an official site covering
flag protocols if anybody wishes to brush up on their knowledge.
This was also a good change for the Gold Boomerang Cub Scouts to teach the others how to fold up the flag ready for parade, everybody had a go with great success.

Time for another game by then, this time ‘Getting Dressed’. The Cub Scouts were split up with 2 teams of boys and 1 of girls, each team were then given an XL t-shirt and the first member of the team put it on. When the game started they had to take the hands of another Cub Scout in their team and with help take the t-shirt off, up and over their heads and then down their arm and up the other Cubs arm. Once the new Cub had the t-shirt on properly they would take another Cubs hand and carry on the process until the t-shirt made its way back to the original Cub Scount. Obviously mild chaos ensued.

Time was getting away from us by now, but there was still plenty to get through. With several new Cub Scouts being invested today it was a good time to show everyone how to roll their scarfs, even some of the long term members learnt a few tricks here.
Last, but certainly not least, it was time for 3 new Cub Scouts to be invested. Finally you get to wear your badges, scarf and woggles to Cub Scouts each week!
Next week is the last week for this term and so we will be having as much fun as possible, it will also be the last week in Cub Scouts for two of our number before they go up to Scouts next term.
