We continue to go over some of the basics for the new Scouts, and a refresher for the existing one.
As usual the night started with a game, this time it was Foraging in Sciatica. Here the Scouts had to collect marbles from the floor by crawling about, sounds easy but they had to do it in the dark!
We then had a discussion on the Australian flag, its history and what it comprises of. Also the correct way to fold and fly the flag, if you want to read more about this topic there is an official Flag Protocol website.
Time for another game, this time Pin Soccer. Each Scout had a cone and using a football everybody had to try and knock them over, once your cone was knocked over you were out.
Then we moved on to first aid, in particular we covered the control of bleeding, what an emergency is and a refresher on DRSABCD.

Afterwards the Scouts were presented with an emergency situation, in this case a person unconscious with an electrical cable over them. Would they remember what to do?
Unfortunately that’s where we ran out of time, we will be covering CPR soon but if anybody wants to learn now there is a PDF on the St Johns website.
