Our first night back with the Cubs and Joeys, whom are linking up to Cubs now. Tonight was a night of games, and some sneaky revision of the Promise and Law as well as a few knots thrown in.
Our first game had the Cubs running relay for words from the Promise, they then had to put those words in to the correct order. For those still a little rusty the two version of the Scout Promise are:
On my honour, I promise
To do my best,
To be true to my spiritual beliefs,
To contribute to my community and our world,
To help other people,
And to live by the Scout Law.
OR
On my Honour
I promise that I will do my best
To do my duty to my God, and
To the Queen of Australia,
To help other people,
And to live by the Scout Law.
After that we had some rope practice, and the older Cubs showed the newer ones how to tie a reef knot and clove hitch. Some of the older cubs then also practised their bowline and sheet bend, we will be checking those again soon! Well done to our newest members for learning how to do a reef knot and a clove hitch tonight!
Towards the end of the night the Cubs played a rope relay game, each Cub had to throw a rope to the next who tied a reef knot with their own rope to make one long rope. Then the last cub tied a clove hitch to a sack they are sitting on and the other Cubs pulled them to safety!
